The Bangles
have had – besides three worldwide No.1 hits («Walk Like An Egyptian», «Manic Monday» and «Eternal Flame») – the lead singer with the most subtle sex appeal of the entire 80s. Even Prince and Emilio Estevez supposedly have fallen for her. However it wasn’t Suzanna Hoffs who founded the all-female band in 1981, but it was rather the siblings Vicki and Debbi Peterson. They split in 1989, but reformed in 1999.
The energy of it is so enfused and it also makes you sink into the music and keeps your mind off other things.
It’s off his first album «Matthew And Son» from 1967.
Kinda obvious, cuz it’s desert music what they do. And they are from Tucson, Arizona.
On one hand I really like to dance to slow jam hiphop. On the other hand – if me and my husband go out – it has to be a bar that plays sixties pop music. The first British invasion, bands like Small Faces, or The Creation, or The Move.
It makes me very, very emotional.
Me and my husband made a compilation of five hours music for our wedding. We just put songs on it we both like. We didn’t really have a big discussion about it. I didn’t allow him to put any Bangles on it, though. We both agree basically on the same songs.
I need a double album for that. And something as diverse as this masterpiece.
I would be screaming too loud to listen to any music!
That’s the band my husband, John Coswill, was in. It was him and his four brothers, their sister and their mother. They had several top ten hits in the late 60’s. («The Rain, The Park, and Other Things», «Indian Lake», «Hair»). They even had their own TV special, called «A Family Thing» in 1968. Which was the template for the very successful «The Partridge Family» with David Cassidy later on. So listening to The Cowsills reminds me of my childhood. It’s comfort music to me.
With this early tune from Giant Sand I have the ghosts come and listen to the music and leave me alone.
